Cheryl Townsend Gilkes at Baptist-Muslim Dialogue

Cheryl Townsend Gilkes, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Professor of African-American Studies and Sociology at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, speaking on January 11, 2009 at the Baptist-Muslim National Dialogue hosted by the Andover Newton Theological School.  Dr. Gilkes discusses common themes between the Baptist and Muslim faith traditions and highlights traces of the influence of the Islamic faith of African slaves on the spirituality of the black churches in America.
